George Holland was elected to serve a two-year term as Alumni Advisory Council Chair of the Barnes-Jewish College Alumni Association. George Holland was elected to serve a two-year term as Alumni Advisory Council Chair of the Barnes-Jewish College Alumni Association, a group that represents the interests of 8,000 nursing school graduates around the world. The group includes all alumni from the original Jewish Hospital School of Nursing, Barnes Hospital School of Nursing, Barnes-Jewish School of Nursing and Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing.
“I am very passionate about alumni affairs and keeping graduates connected to their school,” says Holland. “Our alumni graduated from the four different nursing schools that grew into what is the Goldfarb School of Nursing today, and it is my goal to make sure every graduate feels like Goldfarb is their alma mater.”
Holland, who is an Account Manager at Johnson & Johnson in St. Louis, earned his Associate of Science in Nursing at Barnes-Jewish School of Nursing & Allied Health in 2006. He also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health – Biology and a Masters of Public Health from Indiana University.
“Alumni relations is a really good fit with my background,” says Holland, who ran the Indiana University Alumni Association group in St. Louis for four years. “I feel fortunate for the opportunity to lead the Barnes-Jewish College Alumni Association at this key time as we build on the many accomplishments of the past few years.” Holland noted that the Alumni Advisory Council will be expanding its role by supporting the group’s events and growth efforts.
The Alumni Association has been busy planning for upcoming events. The group hosts the 360 Social, a celebratory gathering for graduating students, recent alumni and faculty of Goldfarb School of Nursing each term. In addition, the Alumni Association is looking forward to sponsor another 25th and 50th class reunions in the spring and prepare for the school’s annual homecoming celebration in the fall.
