Recently, Inside Higher Education shared the article “We’re All in This Together,” where they described how several colleges and instructors throughout the country are preparing for fall in our new environment. They admit that during this pandemic-driven time: “Most instructors where novices…and many sought help. Recently, Inside Higher Education shared the article “We’re All in This Together,” where they described how several colleges and instructors throughout the country are preparing for fall in our new environment. They admit that during this pandemic-driven time: “Most instructors where novices…and many sought help.”

Similarly, Goldfarb had to pivot–faculty worked diligently to adjust and prepare our students for a new learning environment and course delivery. Katie Jett DNP, MSN, FNP-BC, RN, Director, BSN Program Upper Division at West Campus and Assistant Professor, described Goldfarb’s efforts, “We had to be nimble, be quick. Expect uncertainty and embrace flexibility.”

Dr. Jett also gave us an inside look into how Goldfarb faculty continued to prepare for our students:

“Faculty had to collaborate and come up with innovative solutions, relatively quickly. If you think about it, our faculty had moved an entire program online in record time. We started by embracing and expanding the utilization of Canvas and Teams and other virtual platforms to actively engage with students. Our faculty also started using several virtual products, including video case studies, virtual simulations, and skills modules. These tools help students meet learning objectives with meaningful learning experiences, progress through the program, and graduate to continue their forward momentum towards nursing leadership–all of this during a time when even the most senior, resilient nurses and educators are faced with constant uncertainty. When I think that maybe it is too much, Goldfarb faculty rises to the challenge and exceed our expectations.

We are united by a common goal—our students, who are at the heart of all we do. They are the single greatest motivating factor for the late nights, weekends, planning, changing plans, changing them again, staying in a constant ready state. We are educating future nurse leaders.

It is a privilege and an honor, but it is not without sacrifice, especially during these times. I know our faculty have sacrificed a lot in the last several months. It has not gone unnoticed, and I am so proud of the dedication they have shown to our students, our college, and our profession.”

Thank you, Goldfarb Faculty! Thank you for reimagining instruction and learning at Goldfarb.
