Representatives of St. Louis College of Pharmacy and Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing announced they have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish new pathways for students of the College to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at Goldfarb. Representatives of St. Louis College of Pharmacy and Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing announced they have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish new pathways for students of the College to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at Goldfarb.
The institutions have created two opportunities for students to compete prerequisite requirements at the College, with the intent to complete a BSN at Goldfarb. Students will have the ability to choose from two options:
“2+2” BSN Upper Division Option: Students will complete two years of undergraduate coursework at the College, followed by two years in the Goldfarb BSN Upper Division Option program
“4+1” BSN Accelerated Option: Students will complete a bachelor’s degree at the College and transition to the one-year Goldfarb BSN Accelerated Option program.
“This partnership is an example of how the College is creating new opportunities for its students by helping them pursue careers in health care,” said John A. Pieper, Pharm.D., FCCP, FAPhA, president of the College. “Students, faculty and staff from the College have long been members of the Goldfarb community through their close involvement in the Washington University Medical Campus. This new partnership will help expand the value of interprofessional education through which future nurses, future pharmacists and other future health professionals live, learn and grow together.”
In addition to creating new academic pathways to a BSN, the College and Goldfarb will also work together to establish a Nursing Scholars Program that will financially support outstanding students as they begin their nursing education at the College.
“We are so thrilled to form this partnership with the College,” said Nancy Ridenour, Ph.D., RN, APRN, BC, FAAN, the Maxine Clark and Bob Fox President at Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing. “This collaboration will give our students the opportunity to live and learn on campus alongside other health care professionals, and it will play an important role in increasing awareness of the many health professions career opportunities that exist for those with a passion for pursuing them.”
