Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
This program prepares nurses to provide comprehensive primary care to individuals and families across the lifespan. The program focuses on health promotion, disease prevention, and management of acute and chronic conditions.

Overview
The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Doctor of Nursing Science Program (DNP) focuses on skills and competencies to provide primary care in the community to families and individuals across the lifespan. Graduates will become leaders in practice innovation, develop plans for comprehensive care management that address the multi-dimensional needs of patients and families, and advance health quality improvement. Coursework is designed to provide the student with skills to understand the complexities of the health care delivery system to influence change and develop policy that improves patient outcomes in a variety of settings.

Admission Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning
- Minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in all undergraduate coursework
- Official transcripts from all institutions where credit was earned
- Current curriculum vitae (CV) or resume
- Current unencumbered, unrestricted Missouri licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or a multi-state compact license and in good standing
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) provider status
- Two letters of reference from individuals who can address the applicant’s academic and clinical potential
- A personal statement that addresses desired area of specialization, personal attributes that will contribute to successful accomplishments of the program, and career goals
