Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP)
Designed for post-MSN students interested in advancing their nursing careers and providing care for adult and geriatric patients experiencing acute, critical, or complex chronic health conditions in diverse health care settings.

Overview
The AGACNP concentration offers two tracks for post-MSN registered nurses interested in advancing their careers. The intensivist track focuses on preparing students for intensivist roles in critical care. The hospitalist track focuses on preparing students for nurse practitioner roles with hospitalist and specialty services. Students will be immersed within multidisciplinary teams and environments at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and affiliate community hospitals.
This is a hybrid program. Students are required to travel to campus one to two times per term for advanced health assessment (if required) and the ACNP specialty courses.

Admission Requirements
- Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning
- Minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in all graduate coursework
- Official transcripts from all institutions where credit was earned
- Current curriculum vitae (CV) or resume
- Current unencumbered, unrestricted Missouri licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or a multi-state compact license in good standing
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) provider status
- Satisfactory completion of an undergraduate or graduate statistics course (recommended)
- 1 year recent experience as an RN (ICU or emergency medicine required for intensivist track)
- Two letters of reference from individuals who can address the applicant's academic and clinical potential
- Personal statement that addresses desired area of specialization, personal attributes that will contribute to successful accomplishments of the program, and career goals
Curriculum
Students seeking to transfer credit or who currently hold a different APRN certification will need to submit course syllabi for a gap analysis to determine necessary coursework.
