Academic Support

At Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College, we have developed programs to assist nursing school students in their coursework to ensure their success.

Academic & Student Support Advising

The academic and student support advisors manage a caseload of students in both the undergraduate and graduate programs. Their services are offered throughout a student’s tenure at Goldfarb.

From advising the students regarding the program and course scheduling to personal advising and career counseling, the advisor works to ensure that each student has a point of contact outside of faculty and helps them maintain a work-life balance throughout their studies.

The advisor collaborates with course instructors and the student academic achievement coordinator(s) to develop plans for additional support.

Student Academic Achievement Coordinator (SAAC)

Experienced faculty member-led student support is made available to students who require additional course support. Two paths have been created to meet student needs:

  • The first pathway is a course faculty referral where the academic and student support advisor directly assesses a student's immediate personal and academic needs.
  • Students should meet with their SAAC to review useful academic tools, explore NCLEX style questions, test taking strategies, studying strategies, and time management.
