Merriam-Webster defines philanthropy as “goodwill to fellow members of the human race.” Going back to its Greek origins, the word philanthropy means “love of mankind.” It combines two Greek words: philos (love) and anthropos (to be human). That means anyone can engage in philanthropy, regardless of the size of their gift. The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital is always proud to support Goldfarb’s future nursing leaders by awarding scholarships each year to reduce the financial burden of nursing school.
