Research Assistant (Volunteer Opportunity)


A Goldfarb School of Nursing BSN or MSN student who assists faculty researchers with their research studies by conducting literature reviews, performing data collection and data entry and other research activities as assigned. Research Assistants possess the following attributes and skills:

  • Accountability, integrity, reliability
  • Works well on teams
  • Effective communication skills
  • Basic understanding or interest in learning the research process


  • Currently enrolled as a full time student
  • In good standing
  • Able to demonstrate strong communication skills
  • Attend initial research assistant training session(s)


  • Assists with literature reviews, data collection, data entry and other research activities as assigned
  • Flexible and responsive in working with faculty researcher
  • Communicates and collaborates with research team members as appropriate
  • Completes Institutional Review Board CITI training for protection of human subjects
  • Maintains confidentiality of all participant and study data
  • Attendance at follow-up research assistant training session(s)


  • Actively engage in and learn the research process
  • Enhance collaborative teamwork skills
  • Improve communication skills
  • Possible coauthor on presentations or publications
  • Research experience added to portfolio and resume
