Fall Break 2020

Greetings Students,

It’s hard to believe that we’re just a few weeks away from Goldfarb’s fall break, which begins on November 25 and will conclude on December 1, 2020. As you prepare for this much-needed break, I’d like to reinforce some of the most critical points to remember, and ask that you please stay aware of the guidelines and developments related to COVID-19:

General Precautions for All Students

•           Wear a cloth mask and practice social distancing.

•           Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

•           Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

•           Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

•           Stay home when you are sick.

Students Traveling for Fall Break

•           Research reputable sources of information on COVID-19 for the areas you plan to travel.

•           Have plans to minimize exposure by wearing a cloth mask, practicing social distancing, frequent handwashing and using hand sanitizer.

•           Continue these best practices throughout your trip.

•           Stay current with COVID-19 developments and travel advice found on the Center for Disease Control website.

•           Because information regarding COVID-19 can change rapidly, continue to monitor reputable sources not only while you are away, but even as you plan to return to the area and/or to campus.

Possible Exposure to COVID-19 During Fall Break

Upon your return, if you begin experiencing symptoms or been have exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID, please take the following steps:

•           Do not come to the college to be screened.

•           Notify your faculty/ supervisor about your concern.

•           Call the Occupational Health COVID-19 Call Center at 314-362-5056.

•           Please go to the testing site as directed by Occupational Health for a COVID-19 test.

•           Do not return to campus until you receive approval from Occupational Health.

•           Occupational Health will notify you of your test results--usually available within 24-48 hours.

•           Occupational health will notify your supervisor/faculty regarding when you can return to work/school.

•           While awaiting testing and results, you should isolate yourself at home.

•           It is best to avoid contact with any household members as much as possible and stay in your home without leaving, except to receive medical care.

I am grateful to you for your cooperation, especially during this unprecedented time. I wish you a relaxing, enjoyable and most importantly, safe fall break!

Sincerely,

Nancy Ridenour, PhD, APRN, BC, FAAN
