Community Service Project
The theme The Art of Nursing highlights that nurses are the major keepers of the morality, goodness, honesty and ethics of patient care. Expressions of the values nurses hold dear are embedded in their “tender touch.”

We will host on and off-site service projects open to all attendees. When you RSVP, select which service project you would like to take part in during the day.

On-site
Art Project
Create unique postcards with messages of inspiration, happiness, comfort, or humor for patients, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, and their families.

Care Packages
Assemble care packages for families with children in the NICU at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, clients of Kingdom House and Barnes-Jewish Hospital staff for weather emergencies.

Fleece Tie Blankets
Work in small groups to make colorful fleece tie blankets for family clients of the Kingdom House and St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

Off-site (transportation provided)
Kingdom House
Volunteers will work in the donation room to help organize and sort thrift store items. Kingdom House helps the economically disadvantaged to achieve economic independence and pathways out of poverty.

Evelyn’s House – BJC Hospice
Work as a group to prepare baked goods for patients and their families and tour this state of the art hospice house. Evelyn’s House provides a holistic approach to patient care by an interdisciplinary hospice-specialized BJC care team, located in Creve Coeur, MO.

Goldfarb School of Nursing - West Campus Site
Get a tour of Goldfarb’s newest campus site and assemble care packages for Missouri Baptist Medical Center’s cancer patients.

3:45-4:30 pm
Panel Discussion
Explore Non-Traditional Nursing Jobs - Plaza Auditorium
As the population’s health care needs change, so too has the scope of practice for nurses. A panel of nurses, currently working in non-traditional nursing positions, discuss their career pathways – the knowledge, skills and expertise to take on a variety of new and complex roles.

3:45-4:30 pm
Campus Tour
Learn about the expansions of St. Louis Children’s Hospital and Barnes-Jewish Hospital, both of which opened earlier this year. The new facilities focus on patient comfort and safety and feature all private rooms. The Barnes-Jewish Parkview Tower houses the Women & Infants Center, connecting the Children’s NICU via sky bridge, as well as 180 inpatient oncology beds. SLCH has 96 new impatient beds, and the NICU expanded by 40 beds.
