GSON offers early financial aid refunds to students who:
a) qualify for a Federal Pell Grant,
b) anticipate disbursement of Title IV* funds in excess of their charges (this will result in a credit balance that will
be refunded to the student), and
C) request an early refund by completing and submitting the ‘Textbook Estimation Form”.
*Title IV aid includes: Subsidized Loan, Unsubsidized Loan, Parent PLUS Loan, Pell Grant, and FSEOG Grant.
If a student’s anticipated Title IV aid is sufficient to cover their tuition and other charges the “Total Early
Refund Requested” on the form (i.e., the cost of textbooks including Sales Tax and Shipping/Handling), GSON will process an early refund to the student (i.e., prior to GSON’s receipt of the funds).
When the aid is subsequently received by GSON, it will be posted as payments to the student’s account, if this
creates remaining excess funds on the student’s account, calculated as follows, the student will be issued
a second refund via a check or direct deposit:
+ total aid received
- tuition and other charges
- early financial aid refund
= remaining excess funds; will be refunded to student within 2 weeks of receipt of aid.
If you are interested in an early financial aid refund, please complete the Form and submit it to the
GSON Library as soon as possible. GSON textbook information (e.g. which books are required, which books are recommended, ISBN's, etc.) can be found at: Textbook Information
