Through the Institute of Clinical and Translational Sciences, Barnes-Jewish Hospital and the Goldfarb School of Nursing are working with Washington University School of Medicine (WUSM) to speed the conversion of research into patient treatment. WUSM recently received a $50 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to support this effort.

Verna Hendricks-Ferguson, PhD, RN, professor at Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College, received an R21 grant of $291,106 from the National Institutes of Health – National Institute of Nursing Research (NIH-NINR) to determine the best strategy and time period for health care providers to discuss palliative care and end-of-life information with parents of children with brain tumors who have a poor prognosis.
