At Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College, student engagement goes beyond the classroom. We provide our nursing students with opportunities to participate in leadership and community service through various ways, including:
Student Council
The Student Council creates new opportunities for community outreach. It’s also a great way to meet other nursing students through events such as trivia nights, kickball tournaments, blood drives, and fundraisers, to name a few.
Student Nurses Association
Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College is part of the National Student Nurses’ Association, which mentors the professional development of future nurses and helps nursing school students enter the profession by providing educational resources, leadership opportunities and career guidance. Our students are involved in community service projects in conjunction with the Student Council. Past projects have included Adopt-a-Family for Christmas and an art auction to benefit a newborn unit in Kenya.
Student Advisory Council
The purpose of the Student Advisory Council is to build a student constituency that will be directly involved in developing, planning and presenting social and educational programming on campus, communicating weekly programs/events, and getting input from classmates and giving us input. Student Advisory Council events and activities are designed to reinforce student community at Barnes-Jewish College
Campus Events
Annual BBQ and ice cream socials with neighboring St. Louis College of Pharmacy provides our students the opportunity to network and socialize with pharmacy students. Students are also invited to a monthly Conversation with the Dean, which is a great way to provide feedback to administration on how to enhance student life at Barnes-Jewish College.
